Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026

1. Service Description

Pledgely is a porn blocker combined with a financial commitment device. It blocks access to pornographic content on your device. Separately, you may set a daily pledge: a voluntary commitment you make to yourself. If you turn the blocker off during a day you have pledged, you are charged your pledge amount.

The pledge is not a payment for app features, content, or functionality, and paying it does not unlock anything in the app. It is a self-imposed financial stake designed to help you stay on track.

2. How Payments Work

  • You choose a daily pledge amount ($1-$100)
  • Each day is a separate billing cycle
  • A temporary authorization hold is placed on your payment method at the start of each cycle
  • If the blocker remains active for the whole cycle, the hold is released automatically
  • If you turn the blocker off during the cycle, that hold is captured as a charge for your pledge amount. You can be charged at most once per cycle.

"Turning the blocker off" means pausing or disabling it in the app, or removing or revoking the on-device blocking permission (Screen Time / Family Controls on iOS) that the blocker relies on. Pledgely is only notified that the blocker's on/off state changed; it never receives any record of the sites or content you access.

By using this service, you authorize Pledgely to charge your payment method when you deactivate the blocker during a pledged cycle. Pledge charges are collected by Pledgely through our payment processor (Stripe) and are separate from any App Store or Play Store subscription.

3. App Store Subscriptions

Activating Pledgely on a mobile device requires an active subscription purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. These purchases are processed by Apple or Google, not directly by Pledgely.

  • Subscription refunds must be requested through Apple or Google
  • To cancel, manage your subscription in your device's App Store or Play Store settings
  • Subscription fees are separate from pledge charges

The subscription is what unlocks use of the blocker on a mobile device. The pledge is a separate, optional commitment and is not required to use the app.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Pledgely. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement.

5. Your Responsibilities

  • Install the blocker app on your devices
  • Maintain accurate payment information
  • Keep your account credentials secure
  • Understand that turning the blocker off during a pledged cycle will result in your pledge amount being charged

6. Blocking Accuracy

Our blocker uses domain matching against a curated blacklist. While we strive for accuracy:

  • False positives: A non-pornographic site may occasionally be blocked. Contact support and we can whitelist it.
  • False negatives: Some content may not be blocked. We continuously update our blacklist but cannot guarantee 100% coverage.

7. Refunds

If you believe you were wrongly charged due to a false positive, contact [email protected]. We will review the detection and issue a refund if appropriate.

8. Account Termination

You may cancel your account at any time. Any pending charges from blocker deactivations will still be processed. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms or attempt to abuse the service.

9. Limitation of Liability

Pledgely is a tool to support your goals, not a guarantee of success. We are not liable for:

  • Failure to block all prohibited content
  • Your inability to achieve your personal goals
  • Any indirect or consequential damages

Our total liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past 6 months.

10. No Medical Advice

Pledgely is not a medical service or addiction treatment program. If you are struggling with addiction, please seek help from a qualified professional.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Significant changes will be communicated via email.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
